Lawn bowls results

Our lawn bowlers now have a chance to rest as the first day of lawn bowls has come to an end. In this afternoon's games, Illawarra's blue team defeated Illawarra red 47 to 24 and Western Region had a narrow win against Hunter 34 to 24. For all scores, visit the lawn bowls page.

Triathletes get expert coaching

Games triathletes had a busy morning at Wollongong Harbour, and this afternoon moved to a bike skills session at the University of Wollongong Innovation campus, under some expert tuition from elite triathletes. Illawarra Academy triathlete Lucy Cliff spoke about her Games journey.

Cycling road race underway

The cycling road race got underway at 2pm on the Southern Highlands. Cyclists are competing in four grades, and the 25 Academy riders have been joined by around 25 club riders. Light rain is falling on part of the course, but conditions are otherwise not too bad. C and D riders will complete 25km, while A and B competitors will complete 50km.

Lawn bowlers soldier on in wet conditions

Our lawn bowlers are doing battle with some wet, windy and cold conditions, but in the words of convenor Leif Selby, they're "soldiering on"! This morning, Illawarra red team defeated Hunter 43 to 38, and Illawarra blue defeated Western Region 42 to 33. The second game is now underway.
